Professor Chilabato has over 25 years of industry experience in advertising, marketing, and public relations working for agencies, clients and media organizations. He has held positions such as Account Executive, Advertising Sales Representative, Advertising Manager, Corporate Director of Advertising and Public Relations, and Vice President of Marketing for national and regional organizations. He began his teaching career as a Lecturer in marketing for Providence College and joined Johnson & Wales University as a full-time professor in the Advertising program in 1999. As a co-faculty advisor to the JWU Ad Team “Candlelight Communications,” Oscar has helped lead the team to multiple wins. JWU Ad Team has advanced to nationals in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) eight times and placed in the top four every year 2011–2015. In 2017, the team won the national championship, the first New England university to win this prestigious competition. Professor Chilabato is committed to advancing student learning in advertising and developing curriculum that mirrors industry needs. For the past four years, he has served as a member of the National Education Executive Committee of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and also was recently appointed to the National Advertising Review Board of the Council of Better Business Bureaus of America. He holds a BS and MBA from Providence College.
