I am incredibly proud to have two Guatemalan parents who came to the United States with nothing but a dream for a better life. Witnessing their continued hard work and determination has been a constant source of inspiration for me. My father, a successful franchise owner, has achieved financial stability, and his accomplishments have fueled my ambition to surpass his achievements in business.
Before I enrolled in the MBA program at JWU CPS, I founded MG Touch of Magic, LLC. to help my customers create organized, efficient systems for achieving their business and personal goals. Although I excelled in creative parts of my work, such as web design, blog writing, content creation, and virtual assistance, I realized the need to improve my understanding of the business side, so I thought, ‘Why not learn more about business?’
Choosing JWU for my MBA was an easy decision due to the institution’s renowned reputation for experiential learning. JWU’s College of Professional Studies provided a personalized online education experience that exceeded my expectations. Balancing my part-time position as an executive assistant and managing my own business was only possible with the flexibility offered by online learning.
Designing and working from my home office space allowed me to adapt to remote communication, a valuable skill in today’s digital age. This experience has honed my productivity and effectiveness when meeting business with customers online.
JWU has given me amazing networking opportunities and platforms to explore diverse career paths. Handshake, a platform provided by JWU, connects students with employers, enabling us to launch our careers. Additionally, we can explore various roles and company cultures that fit our schedule through Parker Dewey’s Micro-Internships, which support large enterprises. Thanks to JWU and the opportunities it provides, I have expanded my network and gained valuable experience.
What truly sets JWU apart is the exceptional support I have received from my professors. Unlike my previous experiences with online learning, the professors at JWU have been providing me with valuable feedback and guidance. My professors and dedicated Student Advisor, Felicia Mastrobuono, have regularly emailed me to ensure I am doing well.
The skills I have acquired during my MBA journey, including analytics, technical expertise, and presentation skills, have greatly enhanced my ability to serve my clientele. My confidence in leadership has grown thanks to the inspiring guidance of my professors. Their mentorship has inspired me to give back to future students by becoming a professor myself. I hope to share the knowledge and experiences I have gained at JWU to inspire and empower others.
Having completed my last class for the MBA degree, I am looking forward to beginning JWU CPS’ online Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree program. Like my dad, I am a big dreamer. The MBA degree program is helping me realize my dream of helping others to succeed as entrepreneurs.
