Want to learn more about life as an online student at Johnson & Wales University? Take a look at the feedback below to see what students and graduates are saying about our online programs.

“I received my associate and bachelor’s degrees from the Charlotte Campus in May 2010 and loved the entire experience. I have always wanted to obtain my master's degree but never found the right graduate school that fit my needs or educational and career goals. Then I received an email from the alumni association about the online graduate studies that changed everything. After speaking with a couple of advisors, I knew it was the perfect fit. The academic advisors have been there for any questions or concerns that have come up, and my advisor calls every couple weeks to see how my classes are going. To know you are still getting the personalized attention even across the country is great. I have nothing but positive and encouraging words to say about this school. I am proud to be a Wildcat and will be proud to receive my master's degree from this university.”

"My career path and background consist of me being active-duty Navy. I've been in law enforcement, an operations specialist, and now a career counselor. I heard about JWU Online through a work associate that helped me look for a solid program that was military friendly and regionally accredited. I am currently working on my BS – Business Administration degree — I want to be fully educated and prepared for an executive-level position when I retire from the Navy. I've only taken two classes with JWU Online thus far, but I have been very happy with my experience and look forward to my next couple classes. The JWU professors were very helpful whenever I had any issues. Additionally, I felt they provided sufficient information weekly to help me grasp what was going on and lead me to succeed."

“My life dream was to be a CPA … until I took a horrific accounting class as an undergrad! I switched to hotel-restaurant management, and I’ve worked for Marriott for 20 years in leadership roles from sales to marketing to, now, revenue management. I’m currently responsible for six hotels in the Denver area and set the pricing strategy of each. Marriott is constantly innovating, and as an employee, I feel the sky is the limit! I noticed that many of the Senior Leadership jobs within the company require an MBA – even if they don’t, I know it would help set me apart. I work 60 hours a week, so an MBA program with a classroom component wasn’t going to work for me. I looked into Johnson & Wales, and it’s phenomenal. Every class I’ve taken has been relevant.”

"The Johnson & Wales online MBA program has allowed me to go back to school while working a full-time job. I am able to challenge myself in the classroom and obtain the knowledge that I will need to get ahead in the life. I'm currently taking Financial Reporting and Control. It has been a difficult class but one that has been rewarding altogether. I've really gotten used to the program and appreciate all it has to offer."

“I have 20 years’ experience in the food-service industry, including working as Executive Pastry Chef at two Hyatt hotels. In addition, I’m a successful owner of a publishing company, Food and Health Communications. I wanted a bachelor’s degree to complete my associate degree from the Culinary Institute of America, and I thought that JWU had the best degree programs for culinary bachelor’s degrees — and it’s a great value! I chose online because I enjoy the flexibility and the multimedia lessons.”

"I had a great undergrad experience at JWU’s North Miami Campus, and after graduation I decided to start working toward my master’s degree right away. I visited the Providence Campus and considered relocating, but I realized that if I enrolled in the online program I could keep my full-time job working for the Miami Heat and pursue my MBA. Online learning takes dedication and determination, but an undergrad friend started the program at the same time as I did and we would text and keep each other on our toes. In the long run, I know my MBA will be a big advantage toward reaching my career goals."

"I transferred to Johnson & Wales after gaining two associate degrees from SUNY. Upon graduation of my bachelor's, I decided I would continue with JWU for my MBA. I did so in the classroom until I got offered a position within Marriott that I couldn't pass up. However, I still wanted to finish my degree. With being over halfway done and only four semesters remaining, I spoke to my advisor on what I should do. She suggested the online program. I did some research on the program and compared it to other colleges. Their price was under half of what some other universities were charging, and they have an amazing reputation and produce world-class employees that are fitted with the right education to lead the workforce. Glad to say, GO WILDCATS!"

“The opportunity to enhance my knowledge and continue my education with an MBA has been one of my lofty goals. Attaining an MBA enriches your understanding of personnel, the decision-making process, and the dynamics of everyday business. Through my nonprofit work, I have had the distinct opportunity to speak at colleges and universities throughout the region, and I admired the curriculum developed and administered by JWU. I learned about the JWU College of Online as it has been advertised in a variety of media outlets, and I appreciate that it allows you the greatest opportunity and flexibility to earn a master's degree while continuing to work. The online program is challenging and demanding; however, it’s easily attainable for serious students. Do not hesitate to speak to an advisor or enroll in online classes at JWU. Remember: Education is a gift that none can take away, and one you will forever be grateful.”

"Johnson & Wales University Online has been a great experience. The professors are attentive and respond to student needs quickly. The classes are convenient so whether you're a working adult or a recent high school graduate, the online degree program can give you the flexibility you need to further your education."

I have been privileged to have the best of both worlds at JWU. I transferred to the North Miami campus in my sophomore year of my bachelor's. During that time, I was an international student and had to go home at one point. Upon my return, JWU took me back with open arms and then I was introduced to the College of Online Education. When it was then time to do my MBA, I didn't think twice as to where I would do it. The program has been great! I work full-time and complete my course requirements each semester without hassle, simply because I have been provided with excellent teachers and a vast amount of resources. My favorite is our online library! I can’t thank JWU enough — I have been working in my field (Retail Operations) from day one of transferring here. This is an excellent school for professional growth and development.

So far, I am blessed to have had very understanding and gracious instructors who have worked around my sometimes hectic work schedule. JWU is different from any institution I have attended, as the classes are very rigorous and there are quite a few assignments due each week. However, I love what I am learning and the interactions I have. Currently, I am a Communications Specialist for Union Power Cooperative, an electric utility. While preparing for a persuasive speech in my class, I was also preparing for a presentation to our CEO. While I have spoken in front of audiences and various leaders on multiple occasions, I really wanted this proposal to go through. I was very surprised that halfway through my presentation, my CEO said he was sold. I was in shock because it seemed too easy. I believe the refresher on giving persuasive speeches, as well as the interaction with my fellow students during this project, prepared me well. I was thrilled!

"JWU's Online MBA Program has been absolutely wonderful. I'm over halfway done with it and have had a wonderful experience. I work full time and travel for work, and this program is incredibly flexible! I highly recommend this program to anyone who is wanting to pursue higher education."

“Johnson & Wales offers an excellent online and continuing education program. I went into the program expecting to be stressed and overwhelmed but I have loved each of my courses. The professors are extremely helpful and knowledgeable in their fields. I just completed my second term, and I’ve gained a wide array of useful knowledge that I am using and incorporating into my daily life and career.”

“JWU's online graduate program has allowed me to pursue my master's degree while maintaining a busy career. The flexibility that comes with an online degree is unparalleled. I always feel connected to the campus through the helpful instructors and advisers. Upon admittance, I was assigned a personal adviser who has been with me every step of the way. I am so glad I made the choice to obtain a degree from Johnson & Wales University!”

“Since high school, I have always wanted to go to JWU. JWU was on my top three list of colleges that I wanted to attend. I was introduced to them through my high school club, DECA. I was planning on continuing my active role in DECA once I started attending Johnson & Wales-Charlotte. Unfortunately, my life had other plans. I attended USC-Aiken for my undergraduate in psychology with minor in business. After graduation, I decided to pursue my dream of being a Wildcat. I started my path at JWU Online in March 2016, and I love it. It is flexible enough for me to work two jobs and still maintain good grades. The professors communicate with you as if you were in a classroom setting. Your advisers are there to help you and remind you of things to stay on top of. For anyone looking into pursuing a degree through Johnson & Wales online, do not waste any more of your time searching for other options!”

I attended JWU Providence for my bachelor's degree in Advertising & Marketing Communications. My experience was unlike any other—so I didn't have to think twice about where to go for my MBA. Receiving an online education is very different from taking classes on campus but it’s also rewarding. The program requires a lot of dedication but it gives you the flexibility you need while working full-time. All of the classes in the program are relevant, and I had the same amount of attention and support as I did from taking classes on campus. My advisors also checked in on a weekly basis to make sure that I was on track and where I needed to be. I recently graduated from the MBA program and am excited to see the opportunities and career advantages this degree and experience will give me!
"Attending Johnson & Wales University directly from SUNY Delhi was a seamless transition. I was the only non-JWU undergrad in my cohort and we were able to share our experiences while engaging in the new material the MAT had to offer. The program offered all of the background knowledge I needed to pursue a career in culinary education, something that I always knew I wanted to do! I am so glad I took the opportunity to attend JWU and I encourage others to do the same."

“I love the hospitality industry. I graduated from the College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas with an associate degree in Travel and Tourism. When I was ready to get my bachelor’s, I knew I wanted Hospitality Management. I was enrolled in the online program at Northern Arizona University in Hotel & Restaurant Management, but after a few semesters there, I realized that Hotel & Restaurant was a bit too specific for me. I started looking for a school that offered a program online in Hospitality Management, and I knew JWU offered a master’s, so I checked and found out they also offered a bachelor’s. I am really enjoying my experience so far. Online learning is not as easy as it sounds. You really have to be more disciplined on getting the assignments than an in-person classes. The two professors I have this term have been helpful and respond quickly.”
“One of the factors that was most important to me when choosing a graduate school was the structure of the program. Although the field of human resources management is quite extensive, JWU made the material easy to comprehend and I can say I use those practices I learned each day on the job.”

“Some of my friends and my cousin attended JWU for undergrad and absolutely loved it. When I decided to seek out graduate programs, I wanted a school that was military friendly, offered online programs, and had a good reputation. JWU College of Online Education fit all those requirements and has exceeded my expectations. I switched to the new MBA – Nonprofit Management program in Fall 2015. I am very passionate about nonprofit work and love doing volunteer work. When I transition out of the Navy, I think the MBA will give me the tools to be successful and well-rounded in business, and the NPM classes will give me the opportunity to reach for a career that I love doing each and every day.”

"The Johnson & Wales Online MBA program is a great way for students to pursue their master's degree at their own pace. You will be taking classes with other students from around the world. Knowledge is shared by classmates and amazing instructors. You can work at your own pace within the course as it is designed. This program is challenging and has helped me personally, as well as professionally. I highly recommend it to those who are interested in Online school."

“After I completed my undergraduate degree at the Johnson & Wales Providence Campus, I knew that I wanted to continue my education with the university but did not necessarily want to commit myself to the East Coast for another year — restlessness is a pretty common trait among us travel and tourism undergrads! So online learning was a very appealing option for me and my wandering lifestyle. Luckily, I had the opportunity to give online education a test run during my last trimester at JWU by completing courses online while interning in Nepal. I figured if I could survive the time difference and Wi-Fi connection there, I could definitely manage doing it in the Southwest! While there are, of course, benefits to being immersed in a traditional classroom environment, I am grateful to have the opportunity to pursue online learning, since I find that I am still able to get to know my professors and peers personally, as well as have complete control over my hectic schedule.”

"This is my second year with the online MS – Finance program. I have been challenged to think critically about subjects I have studied, as well as work with fellow students all across the country. The professors I have encountered have been knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely responsive any time questions have arisen in my online studies and feedback is needed promptly. I feel the online MS – Finance program is well structured and very informative, readying me for the next chapter in my career. It is a great value as well, with all of the resources available of a traditional graduate school with a nontraditional study schedule that works around my obligations.”
“The transition from SUNY Delhi to JWU was truly a seamless continuation of my education. The combination of the two universities elevated my career to the next level. Overall, the education I received has always reminded me to think critically and use my skills to the best of my ability.”

“I completed my undergrad with JWU on campus in Providence in 2010. I will graduate with an MBA in 2016 from JWU in the online graduate program, and I couldn't be happier. My professors and advisors have been fantastic, and the classmates have been amazing. Thank you, JWU, for providing me with a great foundation and allowing me to expand my knowledge and business acumen. In addition, your flexibility of creating an online environment for me to complete an MBA became very beneficial for my current role in my organization where I travel 50 to 75 percent of the time. I highly recommend JWU to anyone looking to complete an undergrad or graduate degree.”

"I've really enjoyed my experience in the JWU College of Online Education thus far. Working full-time with two jobs makes it tough to juggle obtaining my MBA, but I've been fortunate to find such a great program with Johnson & Wales. The professors are really great and completely accessible if you have a question or need help. And the weekly deadlines are completely manageable; I can get the work done on my own time. I would recommend this program to any professional that is hoping to advance their education and career!"

"The JWU online program has finally afforded me the opportunity to earn my MBA. Working in the hospitality industry, my schedule was never conducive to traditional class scheduling, but with the flexibility of this program and personal dedication I am working away at my goal. I am acquiring the knowledge required to to earn my degree, but the way I am benefiting every day from being in the program is more than I ever could have expected. The engagement, support, and knowledge that you receive from the professors is something you can start applying and utilizing in your career and overall life as soon as you begin the program. My overall way of thinking has been completely energized, being able to see opportunities and ways of bettering myself in my career with all the tools that the program has given me."
“My experience getting my MBA at JWU has helped me, not only professionally, but personally. It truly has given me the ability to stand out and has helped me get to where I am today in my career.”

“I first heard about the JWU online program from my brother, who is also a JWU alumni. Soon after that, I received an email from the university about this new program. I researched it and found it could work with my busy work schedule. It took me over two years to finish, but I did it and at my own pace. After all, working full time and going to school is a challenge! Like I say, nothing worth it in life comes easy! Learning online has its pros and cons. It is hard to teach yourself and have the discipline to actually sit and do things at all hours of the day. However, it is manageable, and, once you get the hang of it, it works! I decided to pursue higher education in order to advance in my chosen field. I am currently a catering and event manager for a highly reputable catering company in Miami. This degree will enable me to achieve my career goals. I hope to be a business owner or business partner in the near future.”

"After earning my bachelor’s degree from the JWU Charlotte Campus, I jumped right into a management position at Destination Hotels & Resorts in New York. My dream job was to one day work in hospitality in Manhattan, but I knew that I’d need an MBA to break into that competitive market. So I reached out to my alma mater and enrolled in the College of Online Education. The convenience of being able to gain experience while working full-time and towards my graduate degree was key. Learning online definitely built on my time-management skills: I spent many nights working on a paper instead of going out with friends! It was worth it, though, and having an MBA will be invaluable."

"I attended Johnson & Wales as an undergrad and loved the atmosphere and class sizes. When I was thinking about going back to school for my MBA, Johnson & Wales was the first school I considered. It is a challenging program with great teachers and fellow students. I would highly recommend anyone looking into any school program to consider Johnson & Wales, and they do offer way more than just culinary!"

"I found the JWU College of Online Education by accident. I knew I wanted to go back to school to earn a bachelor’s degree, but I had a business, a full-time job, and three children in high school. The [Johnson & Wales University] Charlotte Campus is a 45-minute drive, so it was going to be a push to drive every day, but I decided to apply. As I was filling out the application on the Website, I discovered that there was a bachelor’s degree program online! It took me five years, but now I have my BS – Culinary Arts and Food Service Management from JWU! I was 20 years old when I finished my associate’s degree and 49 years old when I received my bachelor’s. It’s never too late!"

"I work two jobs, so I knew I couldn’t fit in a traditional classroom setting with my already busy schedule. For a long time, I wanted to pursue my master’s degree but was not sure how to get it done. Then I found the College of Online Education, which was the answer. Still, I had to fit my schoolwork in whenever I could: posting to discussion boards at 5 a.m. or staying at the office until 7 or 8 p.m. and working on assignments because I knew I could focus better there than at home. (The flexibility was great!) The professors were the best support system and always there to answer questions. This option opens so many doors for people, like me, who otherwise couldn’t advance their degrees. I encourage everyone to look into JWU Online."

"I have a busy schedule and Johnson & Wales University College of Online Education is right for me. The assignments and reading material are presented where I can evaluate and understand the concepts, and the instructors are always available to answer any questions."

“I started the MBA program at the Providence campus, however, I work full time and it made for a very long day when I had to go into class for three-and-a-half hours once a week. Many of the students in the traditional class were just out of their undergrad program and, therefore, inexperienced in the 'real world,' which made it very difficult to relate. I decided to try an online class to see what I thought and found that I loved it. I had a lot more interaction with my peers and many of them are full-time workers, as well, which made it much easier to connect with them. I've officially switched to the Online campus and couldn't be happier. All of the courses I've taken so far are very well organized, well taught, and engaging. I am looking forward to finishing my MBA online. I think it's a great opportunity to be able to get a master's degree while working on it from my office or from home.”

"Johnson & Wales University has taken it to the next level as America's Career University. By offering an online MBA program, they are sending a message to industry members and alumni that they support our careers and our work, but want to see us continually find new opportunities for growth. As an alumni of the Hospitality College in Providence, I was thrilled to see that the online program was available. The same friendly staff (professors and admin) and the welcoming classroom environment (small classes means you get to know your peers) is mirrored between the actual classroom and online learning boards. I am so excited to be a part of the program and to return to my roots to continue my education and learn from the best!"

"From the first day to the last, I have had an exceptional experience a JWU! From the moment I enrolled, any question I had was answered, every instructor I encountered was great. I was able to work full time and still get the quality education that I desired to advance my career. The schedule is really flexible—all I needed was an Internet connection, so the flexibility worked perfectly for me. I was able to live hundreds of miles away, balance a crazy schedule, and still get my degree. Thanks JWU, and Go Wildcats!"

"I'm currently enrolled at JWU Online pursing my MBA. Deciding to attend JWU was one of the best decisions I've made. As a working professional, the online program allows me the flexibility to continue my career while pursuing my personal academic goals. As a first year student, I have found the course content to be very relevant and useful, both in my professional career and personal life. Key financial concepts have aided me in making investment decisions and overall being up to date on current events impacting business. The course structure is very easy to navigate and work through. Professors are extremely helpful as they respond to any questions/concerns in a timely manner. Additionally, grades and written feedback are also posted regularly. The course syllabus clearly outlines required material, expectations, lines of communication (i.e. telephone or email), and a list of all assignments. Academic advisors help ensure your academic journey is running smoothly and are their to assist will any academic needs. I’m a proud JWU Wildcat!"
