Congratulations and welcome to Johnson & Wales University College of Professional Studies (CPS)! We are here to support you throughout your journey and have created this Accepted Students page to help you get started. Here you can:

  • Review your next steps to ensure you are ready for class.
  • Find important student contacts on the resources tab.
  • Discover SmarterMeasure, a free tool that will help you prepare for success in the online classroom.

Remember you can reach out to your dedicated admissions associate with any questions at anytime.

Now go get ’em, Wildcat!

Now that you’re officially a JWU student, it’s time to make sure you are 100-percent prepared for your first class. Your dedicated admissions associate will work with you to complete each step.

Complete your Intent to Enroll form.

The Intent to Enroll form indicates to the university that you intend to enroll and initiates the registration and financial aid processes.

Take the New Student Readiness Assessment

Identify your strengths and areas for improvement as an online learner through the SmarterMeasure tool so that you can prepare for success. All JWU CPS students are required to complete this assessment. See the “Readiness Assessment” tab for more information.

Set up your Wildcat email account/log into jwuLink

Within two business days after acceptance, you will receive detailed instructions on account set up from your admissions associate to your personal email on file—we suggest you complete this step as soon as you receive the email, as future steps depend on Wildcat email/jwuLink access.

Register for classes.

Connect with your admissions associate to discuss course selection and registration. After your first term/semester, your dedicated academic advisor will be your main point of contact for registration. Registration dates vary by term. For program-specific curriculum information, check the online course catalog

Select Payment Option

Your “Intent to Enroll” form indicates how you will be financing your education. After you submit the form, your Financial Planner will contact you to finalize your selection and answer any questions you may have. Payment options include:

  • Federal Financial Aid (To complete your FAFSA: Apply for your FSA ID, which serves as your electronic signature, and then file online. Johnson & Wales University’s school code is 003404)
  • Tuition Management Systems Monthly Payment Plan
  • Military Tuition Assistance (TA)
  • GI Bill® Benefits
  • Company Reimbursement
  • Term-by-Term Payments
  • Private Loan

Order textbooks.

Textbooks are typically available three to four weeks before class starts. You can order online, directly from the JWU Bookstore. When ordering, select “Books,” then choose “Downcity and Online Campus,” then follow the prompts.

Complete a virtual “walk to class” session.

Connect with your dedicated admissions associate to schedule a 10- to 15-minute virtual “tour” of the online classroom, jwuLink, and other resources available to you. You will need to have your phone and computer for this session.

Schedule a welcome call with my academic advisor.

Connect with your academic advisor to walk through your program, courses, and any questions you might have.

If you like, you can download the New Student Checklist to keep track of your progress of these steps.
