Congratulations on your acceptance to Johnson & Wales University’s College of Professional Studies! This is an important achievement and an exciting beginning. Now that you’re accepted, we understand you may have questions about your next steps.

Connect with your Admissions Associate
Your dedicated Admissions Associate is your primary point of contact for questions and support throughout the enrollment process. They will provide you with course suggestions and help you enroll in your first term.
“Stay in close contact with your admissions associate. They will be sending you several emails with required next steps. Some of those include setting up your student email, registering for class, and attending your mandatory orientation. Completing these steps in a timely manner is the best way to ensure you are setup for success in your first semester.” – Nichole Cordeiro, Admissions Associate Team Lead
Work with your Financial Planner
Just like your Admissions Associate, you will have a dedicated Financial Planner who will walk you through every step of paying for your degree, including:
- Translating financial terms and aid types
- Understanding your aid package
- Understanding the verification process
- Discussing and defining payment plan options – monthly, term, employer, loans
After you are registered for classes, your assigned financial planner will be able to process any aid. They will contact you if any more documentation is needed and discuss your payment plan. Check out some of the top financial questions that students ask, along with answers from Stacy Bateni, Financial Planner:
How am I going to pay for my tuition?
There are many payment plans available. They include monthly payment plans, financial aid eligibility, outside scholarships, and/or alternative loan options.
Can I pay for my books using financial aid?
Yes! Once your financial aid is processed and accepted, if there is funding exceeding the cost of tuition, you can use those funds to assist in purchasing books.
Does JWU offer any grants/scholarships?
There are some admissions scholarships available for qualified students. This can be discussed through the admittance process with your Admissions Associate. Your financial planner can also offer information on how to search for outside scholarships.
If I file the FAFSA, will all my financial aid be free money?
Financial aid helps pay for your college. You could qualify for many types of aid, some of which are free. Grants and scholarships are free. Loans can be part of the financial aid package, but will have to be paid back.
“The total years’ experience the financial planners have here at JWU help with providing each student the best financial opportunities, knowledge and resources. The internal relationships we have formed by being able to work with all departments under one roof have been a great success and are extremely helpful in certain situations when needing quick answers. We know each student’s situation is different, and we strive on being able to assist each of them accordingly.” – Stacy Bateni, Financial Planner

Utilize University Resources
jwuLink serves as the main platform for accessing essential resources, staying informed about university news and announcements and connecting with other students, faculty and staff. Plus, the College of Professional Studies has our own dedicated group where you can post questions, engage in polls and get your questions answered.
We also encourage you to familiarize yourself with the online classroom in ulearn, a Blackboard-based platform. Your classroom will open three days before each term officially starts. Be sure to view your mandatory orientation with details on where to find your classroom and be sure to set up all your accounts before logging in to guarantee access to the platforms. Your Admissions Associate will assist you if you have questions. As a reminder, all online courses are asynchronous, and assignments are typically due Thursdays and Sundays by midnight EST.
“Make sure to get in the habit of checking your JWU email regularly, as that’s where important information is sent by your financial planner, academic advisor and professors.” – Ashley Slattery, Admissions Associate Team Lead
