Johnson & Wales University (JWU) and Bloomin’ Brands, Inc. (Nasdaq: BLMN), have much in common: Both are world renowned for hospitality and culinary excellence, and both believe that an educated workforce leads to success. It follows then that as Bloomin’ Brands was exploring ways to make a college education more affordable and accessible for their nearly 100,000 employees and their various concepts, which include Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, they turned to JWU.
“We are an industry of opportunity and we’re proud to help Team Members expand their growth in both their careers and personal lives,” said Pablo Brizi, chief human resources officer for Bloomin’ Brands. “We appreciate this partnership and Johnson & Wales University’s continued commitment to developing the next generation of culinary professionals.”
Here are the highlights of the educational partnership:
- The partnership is effective August 2018 and is applicable to all Bloomin’ Brands employees.
- If employees wish to take advantage of the partnership, they should apply and indicate “Bloomin’ Brands” in the company field. Employment will be verified with the company before the discount is applied.
- Employees are offered a reduced tuition rate to all undergraduate and graduate programs offered through the JWU College of Online Education, as well as JWU’s Providence Campus’ Continuing Education undergraduate programs and master’s degree programs.
“Johnson & Wales University is recognized worldwide for its depth of academic programs related to food and hospitality,’ said Cindy Parker, Ed.D., dean of the College of Online Education. “Through online learning, Bloomin’ Brands employees around the globe now have access to these programs and others including business, technology, human resources, and health science.”
