What is it that inspires a person to return to school to finish or further their degree? For some, it’s the promise of a new career. For others, it’s a step toward providing for their family. For Gwen Capers-Wilson, it was a personal decision she made to honor her late husband.
“Professionally, a graduate degree makes a person more marketable,” she said. “On a personal level, I wanted to see if I could do it.”
Gwen started online classes for her MBA – Hospitality degree on her late husband’s birthday—and when she crossed the stage in Providence this past May, she said it was because of him.
“It made me happy that we were able to do this together, even though he is no longer with us,” she said.
In the video below, JWU Online alum Gwen Capers-Wilson shares her inspiring story of success.
