Graduation Inspiration - Who Has Inspired You?

thanksgiving grads give thanks

“Who has inspired or encouraged you to pursue your academic goals?”

That is the question we posed to graduating students in the JWU School of Online & Continuing Education. Their amazing testimonials are honest, sincere, and full of gratitude:

“I would like to thank the entire advising team and the financial advising team. Without them, I would not have had the courage to pursue my degree and follow through on a dream. They made everything smooth and painless. I also love the occasional emails I get from Mike O'Malley, my advisor, sometimes even to just say hi. He continues to encourage me and lets me know that he's available for any assistance throughout the year. Those small touches make me love this school and make online learning feel like a regular college. Those are the things that make me proud to be a JWU Wildcat!”

— Adrienne Bibb ’16, BS – Culinary Arts & Food Service Management

“My Inspiration comes from a line of strong women who came before me and, amid challenges, have pushed forward and persevered to achieving high levels of education. These women come in the forms of mothers, daughters, educators, counselors, and many more. I have watched them aspire to higher perfection in pursuit of a better outlook for the future of themselves and their families. I am thankful for them showing me the way and for supporting me during my journey, through their kind words, motivational insight, and plain old-fashioned help. May your holidays be fruitful and filled with pride, laughter, and joy!”

— Leslie Storms ’16, BS – Business Studies

“I want to say a big thank you to Tyhesha Wallace for encouraging me to go back to school and finish what I already started. I am grateful and thankful for having her in my life as a mentor. I am thankful also for my son; he has been my motivator throughout this journey.”

— Jereen Brown ’15, BS – Business Studies

“I would like to thank my Online Academic Advisor, Mr. O’Malley, and his team for the past two years of service and undivided attention in contributing to my success this far. There are no words to express his commitment and dedication to giving me guidance and answers. I am successful in completing my education because of his advice and knowledge of understanding his students. Thank you for your prompt service and professional dedication to helping your students. I am where I am because of your advice and mentoring directives. You are the part of every growth and change I made in my educational journey. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you, and happy holidays!!”

— Woinshet Adile ’16, MBA – Hospitality

“I am grateful and thankful to so many professors and advisors who have guided and encouraged my growth at JWU.  As the holidays approach, may you be safe and enjoy time with your family and loved ones.”

— Richard Siravo ’16, MBA

“I can't thank the professors in the Hospitality MBA Program enough for encouraging me to finish straight through. Due to some family medical issues, there were more than a couple times that I honestly didn't think I would finish, but with the help of my professors, I was able to complete my work on time and proudly earn my MBA. Additionally, I'm thrilled with how much I've learned over the past two years. Despite my 30-plus years in the hospitality industry (or perhaps even because of them!), there wasn't a single class that I took that didn't lend something to the future manager that I will become through constant improvement.

So I raise my glass and offer a Thanksgiving toast: Many thank-yous are in order to the professors at JWU. I can only hope that all of your students grow as I have in the past 24 months. See you in May at graduation!”

— Paul Suplee ’15, MBA – Hospitality

We are inspired by all of you and thankful you chose JWU to further your education! Happy Thanksgiving!
